Abstract
The image shows steam-driven stamp mill equipment used to process copper ore at the Ahmeek Mill. The Mill was located in Tamarack Mills near Hubbell, Michigan and was in operation by 1910. It processed ore from the Ahmeek Mine, an underground copper mine in the Keweenaw Peninsula that was operated by Calumet & Hecla Consolidated Copper Company after 1922. Ore from the Mine was transported by train to the Ahmeek Mill. The Mill, located near water, then shipped its product out by way of Portage Lake to Lake Superior.
