Abstract
Mineral specimen is from the Monkeymeyer mine, Creede mining district, Colorado. Petrified wood found in the Monkeymeyer sandstone unit of the Creede formation contained sufficient silver mineralization to be ore. Mr. Monkeymeyer operated a small mine and the sandstone unit was named for him.
