Abstract
A close-up view of safety chain couplings on coal haulage cars is shown at the Velva Mine, North Dakota. The Velva coal mine was operated by Truax-Traer Coal Company. Truax-Traer operated a number of coal mines using strip mining techniques in North Dakota and other states. The Company was purchased by Consolidation Coal Company in 1962.
