The Idarado Mine is a metal mine located near the San Miguel County border with portals in both the Telluride district, San Miguel County and the Red Mountain district, Ouray County. Mining in this area began in the 1870s and peaked in the early 1900s. During and after World War II many of the area's mining claims were consolidated into company holdings such as the Idarado. The Idarado Mine operated until 1978 under the Idarado Mining Company.
