    Abstract
Photograph of the Pay Rock Mill, which was built to process the silver ore from the Pay Rock Mine, and was located on the eastern edge of Silver Plume. The Pay Rock Mine was located near the Dives and Dunkirk mines in Cherokee Gulch on Republican Mountain, and it was discovered and patented in 1871. The mine was owned by the Pay Rock Consolidated Mining Company, which was organized by George E. Noyes (President), Charles Morris (secretary and treasurer), Thomas W. Ellis (Vice President and superintendent), Peter Ellis, and William C. Show. During its first nine years in operation the mine produced $450,000 in silver ore.
