| dc.description | No. 89. Cache-a-la-Poudre Series - The Meadows From Chambers Lake. This lake lies at the eastern base of the snow-clad mountain ridge which separates the waters of the Cache-a-la-Poudre from those of the North Platte. The lake is about two miles in length, and is a beautiful sheet of water, very deep and filled with that variety of fish known as chubs. The trout are unable to ascend the stream to the Lake. Several large tributaries of the Cache-a-la-Poudre flow into the Lake, while the stream flowing out at once assumes the characteristics of a river. A few rods north of the Lake the Laramie river has its source, flowing nearly due north. On the southern margin of the Lake are immense meadows--Verso. | |
