dc.description.abstract | Stereopair slide showing the Vanadium Corporation of America's White Canyon Processing Plant located in Hite, Utah. This plant was built in 1949 by the Vanadium Corporation of America under contract with the US Atomic Energy Commission to process copper-uranium ores from nearby mines. The small mill operated as a pilot plant to supply uranium concentrate to the AEC until it was shut down in 1953. The mill was dismantled in about 1954. The site was inundated by the formation of Lake Powell in 1965 after an impact study was done and some high-grade tailings were removed from the mill site. | |
