dc.description.abstractPhotograph showing miners digging a pit in the gravel deposits of Wadley's placer near Fairplay. It appears that they were using a conveyor to lift the gravel to the sluice boxes above where the gravel was washed and the gold extracted. The sluices then transported the gravel to a dump site.
