    Abstract
Photograph showing Edward Bransome, who was the President of the Vanadium Corporation of America from 1945-1949, standing in front of a building near the Monument #2 Mine in Monument Valley, Arizona. During the 1940s and 1950s, the Vanadium Corporation of America (V.C.A.) owned vanadium-uranium mines and processing plants in several western states. The Monument #2 Mine, which was located north of Kayenta, was one of the largest producers of carnotite ore during the uranium boom, and this ore was trucked to the V.C.A. Durango Uranium-Vanadium Plant where uranium concentrate (yellow cake) and vanadium concentrate (red cake) were extracted from it.
