    Abstract
This map shows part of the Catskill watershed and water supplies for the city of New York, including reservoirs and acquaducts. In 1905 the New York State legislature passed an act allowing the City to acquire lands and build water control structures in the Catskills for its water supply. The map shows the positions of the Shandaken Tunnel, Catskill Aqueduct, East Delaware Tunnel, Rondout Tunnel (Delaware Aqueduct) and the route of the West Delaware Tunnel. The Delaware Aqueduct was the 85 mile long conduit for water to New York City. Construction of the Cannonsvile Reservoir, depicted here as a proposed site, started in ~1955.
