    Abstract
The image shows the engineer's controls on a Mallet train engine, with a partial view of the engineer at the controls of the locomotive. The Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway Company (DMIR) was the result of the consolidation of two Minnesota railway companies in 1937. The Railway operated in NE Minnesota to transport iron ore from mines in the Mesabi Range to Lake Superior ports and connecting rail lines.
