This is probably the Copper Range Company Mill (Champion Mill) at Freda, Michigan. The Champion Mill was a stamp mill built in 1900 on the shores of Lake Superior to process copper ore from the nearby Champion Mine and other mines in the area. The town of Freda was established in 1910. The Mill was in operation until 1967, when it was shut down on the closure of the Champion Mine. The Mill was the last of five stamp mills operating in the lakeshore area. The Copper Range Company (Copper Range Mining Company, Copper Range Consolidated Company) was based in Houghton County, Michigan until its closure in 1995.
