dc.description.abstractThe image shows a view of the roof where a fall has exposed a clay layer above. The Lehigh was an underground coal mine near Dickinson, North Dakota operated by the Lehigh Briquetting Company. By the 1920s the ground above area mines was starting to collapse in places. In 2003 remediation efforts included pumping grout into old coal mine workings to reduce collapse and subsidence.
