dc.description.abstractA tail tower and tower dragline at the pit are shown at the Velva Mine. The Velva Mine was an open cut (open pit) coal mine near Velva, North Dakota. The Mine was operated by Truax-Traer Coal Company. Truax-Traer operated a number of coal mines using strip mining techniques in North Dakota and other states. The Company was purchased by Consolidation Coal Company in 1962.
