dc.description.abstractA wash house with miners' clothing and buckets is shown at the Monitor Mine. The Monitor Mine was an underground coal mine in Bay County, Michigan. The Mine was opened in 1895 and was the first coal mine in the county. The Monitor Coal Company was organized to operate the mine.
