Image from Book 4, Rio Grande Railroad covered album. Captions read: "3349"; "gunnited bulkhead - gilman mine fire area." Accompanying text reads: "Murley, J. A., Jr. Jan 3, 1947 notes - Gunited Bulk Head - Gilman Mine Fire area -Gas Tight door can be seen in center of picture - At right center can be seen the gas sampling pipe - just above this is 2" slime line. (See source of slimes #3350). The reason for the heavy bracing and construction of the fire seal is that a great deal of weight will be exerted (expected pressure is about 50 pounds to the square inch.) against this bulk head by slime filling which is being done from the 16-1/2 level, one hundred and thirty one feet about this area."
