Ed Raines, a geologist, mineralogist, and mining historian, explains the history of our understanding of silicic volcanism as it applies to studies of the geology of Creede. Ed describes the volcanism and the formation of the calderas in the Creede area, the mineralization of the area, as well as other geologic processes that contributed to the formation of the silver-rich ore deposits of the Creede mining district.
