dc.description.abstractPhotograph of the Mine and Smelter Supply Company, which was located at the corner of 17th and Blake in Denver. Horse-drawn wagons are parked by the building, and a number of people stand in front of the building, probably posed for the photograph. This photograph was probably taken around the time that the Mine and Smelter Supply Company opened this new store in 1894. The signs on the store's windows indicate some of the items sold by the company. The Mine and Smelter Supply Company may have been in business in Denver as early as 1860 at an unidentified location. This building on Blake Street burned to the ground in 1969, but the Mine and Smelter Supply Company had moved to a new location on Race Street by the 1950s.
