dc.description.abstractPostcard showing the Belle of Granite Mine in Granite, Chaffee County, Colorado. Gold lodes were discovered in the Granite district in 1867, leading to a brief mining boom. The district's mines were in decline by 1880, although some mines continued to operate intermittently into the 1900s.
