Abstract
Plugging and abandoning an idle oil well is a critical process in oil and gas operations during the later stages of the life of a wellbore. Issues arise both from operational, environmental, safety and economic perspectives. An improperly abandoned well can result in hazardous leaks, environmental damage, and long-term financial liabilities.
