Abstract
The image shows a Mallet train engine pulling cars in the Canisteo mining district. The Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway Company (DMIR) was the result of the consolidation of two Minnesota railway companies in 1937. The Railway operated in NE Minnesota to transport iron ore from mines in the Mesabi Range to Lake Superior ports and connecting rail lines.
