Abstract
The Engels Mine (Engles Mine, Engle Mine) was an underground copper mine near Taylorville, California. The Engels Copper Mining Company was formed in 1906 after the discovery of rich copper ore bodies in Plumas County in the late 1870s. The Engels Mine was reported to produce over 100 million tons of copper over 15 years of production. During the 1920s-1930s Plumas County was a major copper producer for California.
