Abstract
Photograph taken at a site where the Vanadium Corporation of America was sinking a mine shaft. Three men are shown looking at the headframe. This mine was located north of Grants, New Mexico near the present-day Kermac Nuclear Fuels Processing Plant. The ore from this mine was trucked to the Vanadium Corporation of America's Durango Uranium-Vanadium Processing Plant where uranium concentrate (yellow cake) and vanadium concentrate (red cake) were extracted from it.
