Abstract
Starting switches and locking arrangement for machinery at the Danube Mine are shown. The sign at the top reads, "Do not start any machine unless authorized to do so, and only when sure the machine is ready for service. Sound warning signal before starting and wait for reply. Use warning signs as per instructions." The Danube open pit iron mine in the Mesabi Range near Bovey, Minnesota was operated by Pickands, Mather and Company.
