Abstract
Tin is a crucial component of semi-conductors and other advanced technologies powering the world. Artisanal and small-scale miners (ASM) in Indonesia, who provide as much as 12% of global supply, have a significant opportunity to benefit from the strong tin demand. However, ASM tin mining exacts a heavy environmental price, including to the coasts, and make the livelihoods of fishermen in these regions far more challenging.
