Abstract
The purpose of this work is to take up a study of oil shales using those found in lower Indiana, the products derived from them by the various methods of distillation, and the properties of the products obtained by the distillation. The samples used in the following experiments were secured from borings made by the Railroaders Supply Company. These samples came from the shale beds of lower Indiana, from what is known as the New Albany shale. This shale has an outcropping in New Albany, Indiana and also just north of that city.
