Abstract
The Indian Head Mine is a coal strip mine in Mercer County, North Dakota operated by Dakota Collieries Company. The Mine was the site of a major reclamation effort after closure. In 2002 the Indian Head Mine received from the US Department of the Interior one of three awards for most outstanding coal mine reclamation since the Surface Mining Law was enacted.
