Abstract
Stereopair slide showing Mesa Verde in the distance. This mesa rises abruptly from the Mancos and Montezuma valleys to an elevation of 2,000 ft. above the valley floor (8,500 ft. above sea level), and both Mesa Verde National Park and the Ute Mountain Tribal Park are located on the mesa. Numerous canyons cut through the mesa top, and between approximately A.D. 500 to A.D.1300 it was inhabited by the Anasazi (ancestral Puebloans), who built their dwellings on the canyon walls and mesa tops in both parks.
