Abstract
Photograph of Clear Creek, Clear Creek County, Colorado. The Clear Creek Canyon was the site of early placer gold discoveries in the area in 1859, and became a travel route for prospectors up into the mountains. With the discoveries of gold and silver and the establishment of mining towns along Clear Creek, the canyon provided a route for supplies to the miners and for transportation of ores to mills downstream.
