Abstract
Photograph showing Mosquito Gulch and London Mountain. A mine and possibly some houses are shown in the distance. This area is part of the Alma mining district (Mosquito district) and was a major producer of gold and silver. Gold was discovered in the region by 1860, and silver was discovered in 1871, becoming a major commodity here until the collapse of silver prices in 1893. Some form of mining activity continued intermittently in the area through the 1980s.
